1980年代初頭、雑誌『宝島』の編集部にもぐりこみ、その後フリーランスの編集者・ライターとなる。宝島時代に担当していた『VOW』シリーズがヒット、その勢いで1989年に編集プロダクション「ドゥ・ザ・モンキー」を設立。2004年には、社名にちなんで蒐集した「お猿グッズ」を集めたビジュアル本『LET'S　DO　 THE　MONKEY!』（DAI-X出版）も出版。現在、J-WAVEの「e-STATION　Shuffle」（毎週金曜11:30～16:30）にレギュラー出演するなど、編集のみならず放送作家、ラジオのパーソナリティー、たまにTV出演……と暗躍中。

Worked for "TAKARAJIMA" magazine as an editorial staff since the beginning of 80s, and then freelance editor and writer. The "VOW" series, which he had edited on "TAKARAJIMA", hit the best-seller list. In 1989, Watanabe founded an editing production called "DO THE MONKEY". In 2004, the production edited a book about monkey goods, called "LET'S DO THE MONKEY" published by DAI-X publishing. Now he makes a regular appearance on "e-STATION Shuffle" on J-WAVE every Friday and works as an editor, television and radio writer and radio personality, and sometimes appears on TV programs.

編集業約25年にならんとするワタシですが、簡単な取材カット、物撮りなどはマイ・デジカメで済ませる時代になりました。EXILIMは、印刷にも耐えうる画像も撮れますし、ベストショットモードで素早く適正な画がゲットできるので、取材現場でもたもたしないのは嬉しい。個人的には「その日、自分が何を見たか」ということの記憶補填重視。なにせ物忘れが激しいもので（笑）。今回、最初にアップした写真は、かつてワタシが編集していた「VOW」のようなもの、になっちゃいました。悪い癖です。使い勝手はかなりいいです。ベストショットモードを本来のオススメシーンとは違う場面で使ってみて、自分好みのテイストを研究中。

Over twenty five years of my career as an editor, now I use a digital camera for making check. EXILIM has the printabilityand its Best Shot Mode is so useful because it makes possible to get a shot I want quickly. I have short memory so the cameracan be used as a memo. Pics I took this time are like those you have seen on "VOW" before. It's easy to use. I use Best Shot mode in a different way from the original function to find my kind of taste.
